Marshall Artist is a brand which can officially call itself a Cockney label, being born within the sound of Bow Bells in London’s EC1 in 2001. Having been established for over 10 years Marshall Artist truly understands that building a brand is far more involved than simply showcasing a ‘nice looking’ collection. They claim their business model is simple, “The design and quality of our products competes with the high end casual menswear brands, but with our mid market price point and dedication to quality control we believe Marshall Artist is soon to become your favourite new brand.”
With Creative Director Neil Maloney onboard since 2008, who started his career as a junior Art Director working with brands like MTV, Nike, Sony, EMI, Adidas and Levi’s. He got into designing menswear in about 2001 and gradually moved from Art Direction into fashion and since 2004 it’s been pretty much just focused on designing menswear. The brand continues to produce socially relevant menswear that is ultra wearable while showcasing their British eccentricities, with a simple philosophy of ‘Modern Tailoring for Modern People’.
They have for Autumn 12 has, like many brands, drawn inspiration from, “The Great British outdoors” – Classic sailing apparel, hiking and vintage military uniforms have all serve as inspiring material. Stand out items for the collection include, the Vintage Sailing Coat constructed from heavyweight bees wax cotton with hood and fold away peak. The Tailored Gilet constructed from waterproof chambray and light tan leather yoke with tonal embroidered branding. A Tailored Hiking Blazer constructed from waterproof chambray, removable peaked hood with adjustable pull cords and the Stovepipe Jean available in corduroy or selvage denim with five pocket western construction and tapered leg.
