An extraordinary mens blog for the ordinary man

Close Encounter of a Calvin Klein – Encounter by Calvin Klein

Firstly, before I start, can we refer back to our headline which I’m particularly proud of today, as avid readers of Clothes make the man will know I’m fond of a pun, play on words etc and this one did make me chortle. OK, moving on…….

Calvin Klein has to have one of the most iconic and recognisable fragrance collections of the last 40 years, we’ve had MAN, Obsession, Eternity, One, Escape and now we have Encounter. Like all of its predecessors its had equally memorable bottles and of course Ad campaigns, whether thats uber trendy yoofs in denim or adonis like males in, well pants and not to be outdone, Encounter involves a seductive and beautifully shot campaign. Directed by long time creative contributor Fabien Baron and the print campaign shot by Fashion mastreo Steven Klein (no relative). The premiss is the story of unresolved tension and desire between a man and a woman, a modern take on classic film noir. Now the aforementioned Man and Woman are portrayed by, Trueblood’s, Alexander Skarsgård and Mrs David Walliams, Lara Stone, so not a bad looking pairing.

The scent is a blend of crisp spice, warm cognac and sensual woods, a contrast of freshness and warmth, made up of a top note combining mandarin, cardamom, rum then fused with pepper, egyptian jasmine, patchouli, cognac then finishes with agarwood, atlas cedarwood, sexy musk to create what is promised as being an expression of unapologetic masculinity.

Now to sit along side the Ad campaign to launch the fragrance is a virtual portal world that delves further into the encounter between Mr. Skarsgård and Ms. Stone, over at
