An extraordinary mens blog for the ordinary man
Marni has long been the label of choice for the fashionistas, creatives and general trendy wendys of the world. Consuelo Castiglioni, the founder and Creative director of the brand, is the latest designer to join the the incredible list of stylish illuminaries which have collaborated with the High Street Colossus that is, H&M. In the past we have seen Karl Lagerfeld, Victor & Rolf, Matthew Williamson, Roberto Cavali and Donnatella Versace, not a bad line up all thing considered, bringing their individual talent to the party. The collection offers signature pieces which are so close to their designer counterparts it beggars belief (see images below), for the menswear we see a slim utilitarian silhouette, best illustrated with the parkas, the formal suiting and the prints used on the shirting and matching shorts (maybe not worn together, contray to what is suggested).
To earn extra brownie points amongst our better halves, Clothes-make-the-men.com suggest you could do a lot worse then paying a little trip down to your local H&M from 8th March (Please check beforehand that they are stocking the range, 260 stores are worldwide) and picking up one or two pieces (see below images for inspiration) for them, obviously as a surprise to add that lil extra, without invoking the suspicious question of, “So what have you done ?” If Mrs Mc’s reaction to the lookbook is anything to go by you’ll be onto a winner. Plus, as always with H&M their prices are truly recession beating starting from £9.99 for a hat to £99.99 for the parka. The only other piece of advice I would give you regarding your potential purchase and to avoid a wasted trip, get there early, past collections have literally sold out in hours, maybe even minutes, honest.
To match this stella collaboration H&M have thrown Sophia Coppola, Francis’s daughter (see image below), into the mix, as one does, to direct the accompanying commercial or short film to be more accurate set against the stunning backdrop of Morocco’s Marrakech, the result being, why wasn’t I invited to that party ? (see the film below).
